Ferraro Choi and The Miller Hull Partnership have joined forces to collaborate on an innovative 212,000 SF middle school in East Kapolei for the State’s Department of Education. Originally conceived through the community-based design process and DOE objectives, this new campus will provide a superior learning environment. By combining the best of 21st Century learning principles in the design of instructional spaces with comfortable and versatile outdoor learning areas, this campus will provide students and faculty an exciting learner-centric environment.

A guiding principle of the school’s design is to place high visibility and focus on the science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) classrooms as envisioned by Project Lead the Way. The project is currently on track to be the fi rst CHPS Verifi ed whole campus in Hawaii.

Phase 1 includes a 3-story classroom building, administration building, student center, library/ media center, multi-purpose cafeteria with full- service kitchen, band/choral programs and covered play courts. Phase 2 includes a second 3-story classroom building and soccer fi eld. Phase 3 will include a third 3-story classroom building, PE/Locker-Shower facilities and a softball fi eld.
