LAW OFFICES OF BAYS DEAVER LUNG ROSE BABA

Honolulu, Hawaii

1996 Honolulu AIA Award

Located in Honolulu’s Central Business District, the Law Offices of Bays Deaver Lung Rose Baba occupy 19,000 square feet, overlooking historic Iolani Palace and Diamond Head Crater.

Program requirements include offices for six partners, twenty-eight associates, sixteen paralegal stations, thirty-four secretaries, a main conference room, and three smaller conference rooms with the capability to be connected for firm-wide meetings. Support spaces include copy rooms, business offices, a file center, and an employee lounge.

The interior architecture of Bays Deaver is upscale, urban, and sophisticated, yet relaxed enough for the Hawaii market. Simple, almost austere geometric forms and spaces are employed in the entry and reception areas. Granite paving and theatrical lighting create a quiet elegance. Cherry, Lacewood, ebonized Sycamore and aluminum make up the custom reception desk, introducing materials and tones used throughout the public areas. Private offices employ the firm’s standard of white oak along with a softer palette of colors for relaxed settings.
