Ferraro Choi Names a New Principal
David Akinaka, AIA is welcomed as a new Principal at Ferraro Choi and Associates.
David Akinaka joined Ferraro Choi in 2004. His professional career has focused on both project management and design. Mr. Akinaka has been the project architect and designer for the UH Culinary Institute of the Pacific at Diamond Head and managed the major building renovations and additions to the historic and iconic Vladimir Ossipoff designed IBM Building. He is currently the lead architect for the new Waimanalo Health Center and the HTDC/HCDA Innovation Block in Kakaako. He has served as a past director on both the AIA Honolulu Board and the Punahou Alumni Association Board.

Prior to returning to Hawaii to join Ferraro Choi in 2004, Mr. Akinaka received his Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Virginia, his Master of Architecture from Columbia University, and practiced for 7 years in New York City with an award-winning architecture firm. He has overseen the design, project management, and construction of a wide range of commercial, institutional, high-end residential, and interior projects.
